Welcome to my dreams !

When I was a kid, I'm dreaming already to be a music icon.. a singer like our very own, Ms. Regine Velasquez..

But as I grew up.. I want to see myself as...

A News Anchor.... and do some...

                                                   Hosting...

and I wanted also to end up on...

                           Teaching.
                                        For I believe that teachers,
are one of the most influential person
                                                                                              to a growing kid.

And after being successful in my career.... I'm dreaming
                                                                                                        to...

... get married to the man I love...

I'll ask him to build me a
tree-house ...

and
we will
 travel in
 Paris

I'm wishing to bear a healthy baby boy someday...

AND GROW OLD WITH HIM.

What is behind their beauty and fame? (Ms.Earth 2011 candidates @ PWU-JASMS)

I was very delighted upon seeing the very gorgeous, glamorous ladies of the 2011 Ms. Earth candidates in our school! I must say that their beauty and charm is really unbelievable. Seeing them in person really amazed me because before, without seeing them in person makes me think that their beauty is just ordinary as how other ladies look, but when I just saw them in person, I can't find the words to say how amazed I was. Their wearing a simple but elegant suit and yet their beauty is indeed exceptional. Especially the height, it really makes me feel envy ! And not mentioning the curves of the body, it really annoys me the idea that I must admit that , I want to have that too I wish I could have that without needing any operations! It just frustrates me of their beauty in short. But in the second thought... I just realized how hard they need to strive and work for their dreams...
Upon thinking of what are the sacrifices of these ladies behind their fame, I believe it's not a joke. Imagine, only just to stay in shape, they must discipline their selves, avoid yummy foods that has a lot of carbs ! Oh how I love food ! I'm not a beauty queen and I'm just an ordinary person and yet, I can do whatever I want. I can eat whatever I want, even how sweet it is and even how much carbs it contains, I have no worries... But with regards to them, they need to deprive their selves in so many things. So I therefore conclude, that in this life, it's impossible to run away from trials, pains and sacrifices. It's all necessary for our survival. For them, I wish them all the luck and I hope that even they were not all able to win the crown because obviously, there will be only one lady who'll get the crown, I'm hoping that they will still find the way to continue and make it happen their advocacy being a Ms. Earth of their respective countries for the benefit of our own Earth. May God bless them.

Halloween?!

Ever since, I wonder what Halloween means. Like, I'm wondering where and how it started? Why is it called "Hallooween"? And why do people used to wear horror costumes during this occasion? You know, I'm just thinking if there is a relevance on what many people do, spending money for this... So for this post, I decided to talk about the origin of the said occasion every 1st of November.

 Where this custom originated?
As I've read some articles, it says that many of the customs we have today in relation to Halloween have their origins in the religious practices of the Romans and the Druids way back many centuries ago.
The Romans worshiped various gods and on October 31, a special feast was held in honor of Pomona, goddess of the fruit trees. Later, the Druids, an ancient order of Celtic priests in Britain, made this feast an even more extensive celebration by also honoring Samhain, lord of the dead. This was normally done on November 1 and it was therefore decided to conveniently honor both Pomona and Samhain on October 31 and November 1.
These Druids believed that on the night before November 1 (October 31) Samhain called together wicked souls or spirits which had been condemned to live in the bodies of animals during the year which had just transpired. Since they were afraid of these spirits, they chose October 31 as a day to sacrifice to their gods, hoping they would protect them. They really believed that on this day they were surrounded by strange spirits, ghosts, witches, fairies, and elves, who came out to hurt them. In addition to this, they also believed that cats were holy animals, as they considered
them to represent people who lived formerly, and as punishment for evil deeds were reincarnated as a cat. All this explains why witches,    ghosts, and cats are a part of Halloween today.

While the custom of trick-or-treating and the use of "jack-o'-lanterns" comes from Ireland. Hundreds of years ago, Irish farmers went from house to house, begging for food, in the name of their ancient gods, to be used at the village Halloween celebration. They would promise good luck to those who gave them good, and made threats to those who refused to give. They simply told the people, "You treat me, or else I will trick you!"

The apparently harmless lightened pumpkin face or "jack-o'-lantern" actually is an old Irish symbol of damned soul. A man named Jack was supposed to be able unable to enter heaven due to his miserliness, and unable to enter hell because he had played practice jokes on the devil. As a result, he was condemned to wander over the earth with his lantern until judgment day (i.e., the end of the world). The Irish were so afraid that they would receive an identical plight, that they began to hollow out pumpkins and place lighted candles inside to scare away evil spirits from their home.

When did the modern Halloween celebration begin?
During the Middle Ages (about 600 years ago), the Roman Catholic Church at that time, decided to make the change-over from pagan religion to Christianity a bit easier, and therefore allowed the new converts to maintain some of their pagan feasts. It was agreed, however, that from now on they would be celebrated as "Christian" feast. So instead of praying to thwir heathen gods, they would now pray to, and remember the deaths of saints. For this reason the church decided to call November 1 the "Day of All Saints," and the mass to be celebrated on that day "Alhallowmass." In consequence of this, the evening prior to this day was named, "All Hallowed Evening" which subsequently was abbreviated as "Halloween." In spite of this effort to make October 31 a "holy evening," all the old customs continued to be practiced, and made this evening anything BUT a holy evening according to them.

Now I know how it started ! But in my own opinion, as a Christian believer, thus the bible is the authority of Christian beliefs. Consequently, there is no recorded event in the bible that early Christians celebrated such feast neither praying for the dead people. Well, the details above proves that that Catholic church just allowed the new converts to maintain some of their pagan feasts. They will instead pray and remember the dead.
In conclusion, it is really inevitable fact that sometimes people do things they really didn't know. I must say that, there's nothing wrong on being curious in things right? Knowledge and wisdom must not always be spoon fed but treat it as a gold that needs an effort coz it's hard to find. :)

Favorite Quotes

For me, I define quotes as words of striking lines that has a big impact to me. From the word "Striking", I mean it as it really strikes here in my mind and in my heart and it dwells there.  As I watch movies, read books, attending worship services in our church. I can't help myself but to jot it down on my notes. It really helps especially when you're asked to share opinion or try to motivate others. And even sometimes when a professor shared something unique in the class, like something that's not familiar, I jot it down also. Well I'm not lucky if I got it wrong spelled. I take those as a wisdom that must be kept.

Well because there are really lots of quotes I really loved. I can't really decide which one is my number one favorite. But just to share some of it, here are some striking quotes for me.

"Sometimes weaknesses, diseases, and calamities;
Help and remind us that we are helpless in the mighty hands of God"

by EFS (Eliseo Fernando Soriano)

I heard this personally from him on a live worship service. He's somewhere in a far far country but he always preside in the midst of the congregation weekly via satelite, people in different places can see and hear him clearly. This line strikes here in my heart because personally I do have weaknesses in this life that leads me to commit shortcomings in front of the people, of God; commit sin to my fellowmen and to God. And I have also relatives and love ones who has disease and affected by calamities. At first glance, we may think that, Isn't true that the God Almighty can remove all those things? It's not impossible with his power for you to be perfect, for him not allow the people to be inflicted by diseases and affected by the calamities. But why is it so that he allows all of these to happen and made us see all this by our naked eyes? That is because it help and remind us people that by that, we must accept that we are helpless in front of Him. We must realized that there is God that we need. Because without him who could only save us in all those things, what will be our end? Isn't because of his mercy , that's why we're here? Because sadly to say they are people who don't even recognize Him and respect Him. In fact they only remember to say His name when calamities and diseases only comes. So I believe that it is His way for people to realized who is He in our lives.

"I'd rather lose everything than to lose my God"

by DSR (Daniel Soriano Razon)

I heard this to him personally. And I witnessed how true he was when he uttered this line. This line I wish I could prove also in front of the Lord that I could do. It's hard to say unless you really do something that's worth for you to say this. Mr.Razon had experienced religious discrimination from the very last big station he worked with as a news anchor. That station told him that he can stay working in that station in one condition, he'll never talk and show his self on a religious program that he belongs even in the midst of the congregation itself is not allowed. Razon is already a veteran in news and current affairs industry. He worked hard on it to be on that position. But without a second thought, on that very moment when the big boss of the said station talked to him, he answered this to him and left the station.
This strikes to me because when he explained further as he talk in our midst, that was one of the greatest thing happened to him; when he lose his career. Its like you're saying "I'm not a thief, and I will never be" ; because there is nothing to be taken. but its different when there is for example a 10 million pesos cash you saw, and there is no one in there instead of you, but you know that, that money is not yours! What will you do?  Just like that. There are given moments in each of us to prove ourselves who we really our aside from what we were saying in front of people.
Many people talk and talk but they're not walking there talk. There are people who gives inspirational message but no work you will see.
Oh I remember a quote said, "To say is one thing but proving is another thing"  by ... I don't remember I'm hearing this ever since I was a child and it just resounds in my mind... :)

So I guess this is only for now.. thanks for reading ! :)

State of the Nation Address 2011

What about the S.O.N.A. 2011 ?
Hmmmmm....
I think it still has the same story as before. While Mr. Aquino, our president, delivers good news of developments regarding with our country, outside the Batasang Pambansa Hall were the people who decided not to listen to Aquino's speech and preferred to deliver their own speech and sentiments. For me that never help even a little. This people who only knows to rally here, rally there, blame this to him, blame this to there, you see, why not make a wiser move for the development of the country. Why not support the project and discuss the conflict matters in a nice way? If I were also the president I will not listen to those people who doesn't even care to respect or show a proper manner of communicating. They're reacting very angrily, it's like it's all the president's fault why Philippines is like this? Hello? He's not the only one in the government! See that caricature they made? They spent money for that just to burn it. I'm not pro- Noynoy, but for me, it's illogical move. If we want to solve a problem, there's a solution. All could be consider especially now, the president is open for any of that. Just be guided accordingly.

Well with regards of the very fashionable wears of the attendees last S.O.N.A., it was never new because they need to be presentable for once in a year event of the country. It's just, I wish that they could spend money also for charity works as big as they spend money for a one time gown.

And now for the president, I hope that the Lord will guide him. I'm seeing him now as a dedicated person unlike the past president. For the things he must improve I think, may he progress in terms of being firmed and well focus especially in times of unexpected scenarios. It's easy to say what to do in case of this or that but the  execution in actual is very different. May he have the best decisions for the country.   :)

The Filipino Values

Hey guys ! Did you know that it took me more than one day to finish this post? Honestly, I find it quite hard to express my thoughts about this topic. It was quite tough finding the right words about how I feel being one of the Filipinos. I just realize that we're really in deed rich in unique ideas, ethical practice, culture, and values. It is only in the Philippines you can find this things that make us different among other nations!

Let's concentrate discussing some Filipino Values:

                                               THE FILIPINO HOSPITALITY.

I think it's on our blood already. Wherever you go in the world there are also hospitable people you may find but ours is exceptional. We have this unique approach and treatment towards our visitors even to strangers. To the extent that we became food in the plate for the invaders hundreds of years ago and yet that value was never erase to our culture. I remember when I was small whenever we have a visitor, I am very happy! Because that is always the time my parents buy Jollibee or Mcdonalds for our guest! And that makes my day! :)

                                                     CLOSE FAMILY TIES
The family is very important to Filipinos. To the extent they only eat once a day, what matter is they were living together. Filipinos get strength to their families and this serves as an inspiration for them to work hard. And for the families' elders, many Filipinos avoid sending there elders to orphanages and just live them alone to the nurses. Here in Philippines, we have this payback time to our dear elders on all there sacrifice, love and care to us.

                                                           POLITENESS

Filipinos are in deed respectful individuals. Children were taught from their young age to respect elders by using "po" and "opo" when talking to elders. We are also taught of doing "mano po" to the elders to show respect. On other countries, they used to kiss their elders' hand or kiss them on their cheek.

A lot of more values to discuss and these are only some of the things we always been proud of to everybody in wherever we may go. There are many negative critics against our race but if I will be given a chance to choose what nationality would I want to be, I will honestly still choose to be a Filipino because this is the best I can be and nowhere else. For me, NO ONE BEATS "PINOY".
